Footwear of Little Girls
by Tuhin K Roy
In this painting as also in 1918_04_18, An American Missionary, and 1917-11-22, Polley voos Fransay, the little girls all wear clogs. This footwear, wooden, is more akin to the Dutch and not the French even in the Flemish area or Belgium. As a matter of record, the Dutch were neutral in WWI; they even harbored the abdicated German monarch Wilhelm... It's only during WWII that the Germans overran Holland etc. etc.
Remember to check back often.
