Norman Rockwell Poster

An Affordable Way to Enjoy Rockwell Art

A Norman Rockwell poster is one of the best ways to add flair to a room. Warmth, humor and humanity - all conveyed in a poster.

The good natured humor and old fashioned values that Norman Rockwell painted makes for an excellent heartwarming poster. These good qualities tend to rub off on the viewers. A great poster, no matter the artist, can become the focal point of a room.

A Norman Rockwell Poster Brightens Up A Room

Whether you want a poster to brighten up or accent a room or just want to easily cover up a stain, a Norman Rockwell poster accomplishes your goals in style.

But seriously, a series of Norman Rockwell posters, such as the Four Freedoms series, really adds a classy look. Add a custom frame and matting - and WOW!

Of course, the Four Freedoms are serious art. If you want more whimsy, there are plenty of Rockwell illustrations from which to choose.

A Poster With a Twist

August 5th, 1916 Saturday Evening Post Cover

Another neat idea for a poster: eBay usually has listings for vintage magazines, like the Saturday Evening Post, Life, Country Gentleman and Literary Digest, to name only a few. These old magazines often feature Norman Rockwell covers. I have several of these covers hanging as posters in my "Norman Rockwell room."

One of the best gifts you can give a child is innocent, good natured humor. There are so many Rockwell paintings that are just good clean fun. Most of Norman Rockwell's art brings a smile to your face. This is partly because he evokes memories of when the world was a nicer place.

Who among us can look at Gramps at the Plate and not fondly remember a scene like that from our childhood? At least we wish we had such an experience. How often do we wish we could go back to that age of innocence?

In this age of "Go-go-go," it is too easy to forget what is important in the world.

If you are looking for a more serious poster, a set of Four Freedoms posters would fit that bill. The Four Freedoms series is some of the most recognized art in the world.

Any of the four, Freedom of Speech, Freedom to Worship, Freedom from Want or Freedom from Fear, make a dramatic statement in any room. The essay that accompanied the image in The Saturday Evening Post could be dispalyed along with the poster for effect.

Norman Rockwell Poster Sources

There are several excellent poster vendors on the web. Of course, my criterion for excellence is the selection of Rockwell posters available from the vendor.

Posters.com has a good selection of posters. Allposters.com also carries a wide assortment of posters.

The best selection of norman Rockwell posters can be found at Art.com.

And, of course, eBay always has a large selection of Norman Rockwell posters, as well as lots of other Rockwell items. The Norman Rockwell Poster Book is usually a bargain on eBay. The book features 50 favorite Rockwell paintings on poster-sized pages.

Norman Rockwell Quotes:

I'll never have enough time to paint all the pictures I'd like to.

No man with a conscience can just bat out illustrations. He's got to put all his talent and feeling into them!

Some people have been kind enough to call me a fine artist. I've always called myself an illustrator. I'm not sure what the difference is. All I know is that whatever type of work I do, I try to give it my very best. Art has been my life.

Right from the beginning, I always strived to capture everything I saw as completely as possible.

The secret to so many artists living so long is that every painting is a new adventure. So, you see, they're always looking ahead to something new and exciting. The secret is not to look back.

I can take a lot of pats on the back. I love it when I get admiring letters from people. And, of course, I'd love it if the critics would notice me, too.

You must first spend some time getting your model to relax. Then you'll get a natural expression.
