January 3 - Baker Reading Diet Book Studies

I have a watercolor painting by Norman Rockwell, called Weighty Matters, How To Diet.

This was in the studies in late 1952 and on January 3rd, 1953, it was on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.

I have attached some pictures of it.


I know it is an original watercolor because the paint has soaked all the way through to the backside creating a reverse picture of the painting as seen in the photographs.

If you look at the cupcake on the left, you can see it is half full and the cake on the Saturday Evening Post is full.

I have looked all over the internet and even books at the library and have not found any info. It seems like this could be the real deal. It also seems that, in 1953, he may have sold many items, because he moved in Fall 1953.

I also read that the studies for the Weighty Matters was lost, and never found.
